Stylistic Semasiology.

1. The theory of images. Figures of Speech. Tropes.

2. Metaphorical group of SD's Simile, Metaphor, Personification.

3. Epithet.

4. Metonymic group of SD's. Metonymy.Synechdoche.

5. Mixed group of SD Allegery. Antonomasia. Speaking on every figure of speech analyse its structure (tenor,vehicle,ground), relations between tenor and vehicle, the type, grammatical and lexical characteristics,the nature of its expressiveness, its syntactic and stylistic function.

6. Practical tasks:

a) For illustration and discussion find examples in the books of yoyr home, individual reading. Speak on the associations evoked by every trope, analyse the means of their expressive­ness, their role in the context;

Speech based on relations identity:

1. Identity: Synonymic variation, Synonyms, Euphemism, Periphrasis.

2. Figures of Speech based on relations of opposition.

Antithesis. Oxymorofl. Irony.

3. Figures of Speech based on relations of inequality:

Gradation, Anticlimax, Hyperbole, Lilotes, Zeugma.

Within each group of SDs define the features that bring them tigether and the ones that make them different. Analyse their interaction with the context, yjeir stylistic functions.

4. Practical tasks:

а) Find examples in the books of your home and individual reading. Speak on the nature and stylistic functions of the chosen Figures. (Stylistic devices).
