Symbols let us distinguish one product from another.

Language - it is a special terminology, abbreviation that organization uses. It makes this organization strong and keep distance from the members of different organizations.

Heroes - their behavior shows what is acceptable, desirable in the cultural behavior of particular organization

Values - it is the whole set of terms and languages that only people of particular organization can understand.

10) Bipolar dimensions:

 

Process orientation: is concerned with the mean of reaching a particular goal. People tend to process themselves, avoiding risks, making only limited efforts in their job. Results orientation: is concerned with a goal itself. The people tend to deal with unfamiliar situations. They are not unusual, they are welcome. The employees are excited with the idea every day brings a new challenges.
Employee oriented: This organization focuses on the welfare of its employees, their personal needs. The employees are given the more responsibility. Job oriented: this kind of organization is focused more on the work rather than on employee. The personal problems and life mustn't interfere the work to be done.
Parish: people tend to identify themselves as members of the organization itself. Professional: the people tend to identify themselves by the type of job they do or only by profession they belong.
Open system: how open the organization to the new members? The newcomer feels welcome, adjusts, and accepted like a member of the organization in a very short period of time. Closed system: The newcomer feels welcome, adjusts, and accepted like a member of the organization in a long period of time.
Loose control: people tend to think that the casts and time limits are not primary important. People make jokes frequently about company and members of the company. Tight control: The time limits are very strong and the casts are very important. Meetings' time kept punctually. The jokes about the company and employees are rare.
Pragmatic: pragmatic units are market oriented The emphasizes are meeting the customer needs. The results are more important than following correct procedures. In the methods of business ethics and honesty the pragmatic rather than dogmatic view would be followed. Normative: In normative units the rules and behavior within the organization shouldn't be broken. These units always tightly follow the organizational procedures. In the methods of business ethics and honesty the standards are very high.

1. Compare any two big companies: according to these dimensions. Describe them and give them your own scores according to your personal scale.

2. Imagine you have your own company. Write special CREDO and Principlesfor it.

3. Give the definition of Organizational culture.
