My Native Place. A Village
I come from a rural urea. I was born & brought up in the village of _______. The village is very beautiful mainly due to the picturesque country-side around it. It lies on the plain covered with woods and meadows. There is a lake and a river near the village where we can enjoy swimming in summer time. In the woods and on the meadows one may find berries, mushrooms, medicinal herbs. People pick them in the summer to make supplies for the winter. I like living in the country: the work is usually done in the open air, in constant contact with nature which gives me energy.
The village is by no means small as it is, and it is growing rapidly. Young people tend to remain in the village, former villagers return from far away places and nowadays there are a lot of refugees there too. There are several secondary schools and kindergartens in the village. There’s a factory there too: it’s a military (milk, wood processing) factory. But the heart of the village is the club. People like going there to see a film or a concert, to listen to some lectures, to meet interesting people or just for a disco. Young people enjoy strolling till small hours. On the whole, I think country dwellers are more sociable, they see more of one another, care more for one another than we do in the city, where people might not know their nextdoor neighbour’s name. You see, I have every reason to prefer the country to the city. And it is but natural that I intend to return to work in my village when I graduate from the Institute
