Проанализируйте и сравните несколько вариантов перевода. В каких из них средства перевода подобраны наилучшим образом?

Выше было сказано, что аспектуальность чаще всего находит своё выражение в предикате, хотя и не только в нём. Существенно при этом, что многие предикаты (особенно глаголы) в самом своём значении, а не только грамматической форме имеют некоторый аспектуальный компонент (например, засыпать – значение начинательности), но в другом языке им может не быть прямого соответствия. Тогда переводчику приходится добавлять недостающий для выражения смысла элемент или выбирать не прямое словарное соответствие.

Кроме этого, значение предиката обусловлено его местом в семантико-синтаксической структуре высказывания и смыслом последнего, смысл же высказывания определяется смыслом текста в целом (речевой ситуацией, интенцией говорящего, предполагаемым знанием слушающего и т.д.), а потому явное и всегда маркированное выражение аспектуального значения может быть излишним в переводе, т.к. оно ясно из общего смысла текста.

Упражнение 3. Выполните устный последовательный перевод или перевод с листа данных отрывков. Обратите внимание на то, какими средствами аспектуальность при её наличии в высказываниях. Сравните несколько вариантов перевода.

(1) Билингвизм рассматривается исследователями как знание двух языков, владение ими и попеременное их использование в зависимости от условий речевого общения. В зависимости от условий усвоения второго языка Л.В. Щерба различал два типа двуязычия, представляющие собой, в сущности, два крайних случая двуязычного речевого поведения. Первое – это чистое двуязычие, т.е. случай независимого сосуществования в сознании билингва двух языковых систем. Такое двуязычие начинается тогда, когда степень знания второго языка приближается вплотную к степени знания первого. Второе – это смешанное двуязычие, когда каждый элемент одного из языков оказывается связанным с соответственным по смыслу элементом другого языка.

(4) While the media will continue to bombard you with articles and stories about how to live a long healthy life, the truth is that there is no quick fix or magic pill. I spent my first year of medical practice in the Smoky Mountains of rural western North Carolina. There I had the privilege of caring for a number of patients who were in their 90s, and several who were over 100 years old. Caring for these men and women taught me much about what it means to be a highly healthy person who lives to be a centenarian. Donna had just turned 100 when we first met, she had my attention, and over the next four years I listened, and she taught. When asked why she always seemed so up, never moody or down, even when an illness flared, she exclaimed, "I just know how to enjoy every little moments of happiness which surround us, and it’s such a great work."

(5) Malaria is a serious and sometimes fatal disease caused by a parasite that commonly infects a certain type of mosquito which feeds on humans. People who get malaria are typically very sick with high fevers, shaking chills, and flu-like illness. Although malaria can be a deadly disease, illness and death from malaria can usually be prevented. About 1,500 cases of malaria are diagnosed in the United States each year. The vast majority of cases in the United States are in travelers and immigrants returning from parts of the world where malaria transmission occurs, including sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Because malaria causes so much illness and death, the disease is a great drain on many national economies. Since many countries with malaria are already among the poorer nations, the disease maintains a vicious circle of disease and poverty.

(7) Gender identity disorder [гендерная дисфория] is a conflict between a person’s physical gender and the gender he or she identifies with. For example, a person identified with a boy may actually feel and act like a girl. The person is very uncomfortable with the gender they were born. Identity conflicts need to continue over time to be a gender identity disorder. How the gender conflict occurs is different in each person. For example, some people may cross-dress while others want sex-change surgery.

(8) The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each state, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each state shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the state legislatures. When vacancies happen in the representation of any state in the Senate, the executive authority of such state shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, that the legislature of any state may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.

(10) The most popular theory of our universe’s origin centers on a cosmic cataclysm unmatched in all of history – the big bang. This theory was born of the observation that other galaxies are moving away from our own at great speed, in all directions, as if they had all been propelled by an ancient explosive force. Before the big bang, scientists believe, the entire vastness of the observable universe, including all of its matter and radiation, was compressed into a hot, dense mass just a few millimeters across. This nearly incomprehensible state is theorized to have existed for just a fraction of the first second of time. Big bang proponents suggest that some 10 billion to 20 billion years ago, a massive blast allowed all the universe’s known matter and energy – even space and time themselves – to spring from some ancient and unknown type of energy.

(12) If in the Soviet Union many students already knew in their first year where they would be working upon graduation, then in the new Russia, a university degree offers no guarantees of employment. But, demand is determined more by family perceptions than by the requirements of the labour market. Courses in economics, management, and law are particularly oversubscribed, as people assume it is easier to find work in those professions considered more prestigious and payable than others. It is also easier for universities to provide such courses as, unlike engineering or medicine, they can be taught without expensive laboratories and equipment.

(13) The world has not been the same as we know it today. Humanity has come a long way since the Stone Ages, creating history over the sands of time. Great men, great deeds and great events – the world has never fallen short of them. Perhaps the most important thing that happened to the world was the evolution of great civilizations like the Indus-Valley Civilization and the Mesopotamian Civilization. It was actually when man came to know the essence of human life and strived to steer it forward in every possible direction. No wonder that important and interesting events have kept happening in this world that have contributed much to the shaping of modern world.
