Условное наклонение с wish

WISH

 

           Глагол wish обозначает «хотеть», «желать», «высказывать пожелание». Однако глагол wish также употребляется, когда мы хотим, чтобы положение вещей было не таким, какое есть.

Реальность – Пожелание:

I don't know it.

           I wish I knew it.

           Хотелось бы мне знать это.

He's not listening.

           I wish he was / were listening.

           Жаль, что он не слушает.

I've lost my key.

           I wish I hadn't lost my key.

           Как жаль, что я потерял ключ.

She told me everything.

           I wish she hadn't told me everything.

           Жаль, что она мне все рассказала.

You will sleep all the time.

           I wish you wouldn't sleepall the time.

           He хотелось бы, чтобы ты все время спал.

I'm not going to work in Boston.

           I wish I were going to work in Boston.

           Хотелось бы мне поработать в Бостоне.

I can't see them.

           I wish I could see them.

           Жаль, что я их не вижу.

Самые распространенные типы предложений с wish:

I wish I knew.                                                                Хотелось бы мне знать.

Реальность: Я не знаю.

I wish I could swim.                                                     Жаль, что я не умею плавать.

Реальность: Я не умею плавать.

I wish I had been there with you.                              Жаль, что я не был там с вами.

Реальность: Меня не было там с вами.

Английское wish в подобных предложениях часто передается русским «жаль».
