Media of industrial advertising
The suppliers of services, equipment, raw materials and goods’ components will usually advertise in special media. The advertisements are seldom seen by consumers in public. The media used will consist of trade and technical journals, technical literature and catalogues, trade exhibitions, direct mail, and technical demonstrations and seminars. Technical journals will have smaller circulations than consumer press and exhibitions will tend to have fewer exhibitors and smaller attendances than public exhibitions which are freely open to public or where admission is usually made by tickets or business cards. The amount of money spent on industrial advertising will be far less and there may be more reliance on market education when public relation techniques such as video documentaries, external house journals and technical feature articles are used.
Industrial advertising media may be a typical feature of the industrial North and can be seldom met in developing countries except large ones such as India, which has a substantial industry development in the world. The industrializing South depends on European and North American trade and technical journals have international circulations. Some of these journals are so specialized that if they did not have international circulations they would hardly survive in the country. The origin of trade exhibition is closely connected with international interest of people to some industrial products.
